Interplanetary Age Calculator!

Professor Floob June 5, 2011 1:42 am Funky Brains, Kids Blog

How old are you? Are you sure? What if I told you that you would be a different age depending on what planet you are on? Would you call me crazy? It’s true!

Age is measured in years, and each year is measured by the amount of time it takes for a planet to circle around the sun! On Earth, one year is 365 days.

Mercury is closer to the sun than Earth, so it takes even less time for it to go all the way around. One year on Mercury is only 88 days! That means if you are 10 years old on Earth, you would be 41 years old on Mercury!

Are you confused? It’s OK, check out this awesome website by The Exploratorium in San Francisco – it’s an age calculator that will tell you your age on any planet! Once you’ve entered in your birthday, come back and tell me your results in the comments!
